Using pret,iously derived got,erning equations, this paper presents closed form solutions for the statics and d)'namics of thick rectangular plates. A higherorder shear deformation theory is developed for the vibration and buckling of shnpl.v supported orthotropic plates. Present results based on higher-order theory are compared with the results ¢~'other theories. It can be concluded from the natural frequen~ T results that the accuracy of the present theory is better than the other theories. In addition, the effects of various orthotropic parameters on the natural frequencies and buckling loads arc, studied.
