Symbiosis between grain boundary sliding

Aluminum alloys with a fine and recrystallized microstructure deform by grain boundary sliding at low strain rates. However, some aluminum alloys, for instance, Al-5% Ca-5% Zn, Supral 2004, Al-Li 2090, Al-Li 8090, show indications of slip creep and grain boundary sliding at a given temperature and s

Negative Strain-rate Sensitivity in a Na

The influence of strain rate in the range of 10^–1^ to 10^–5^ s^–1^ on the compression behavior of a cryomilled 5083 Al alloy is studied. The compression flow stress remains constant after an initial short strain hardening and a small stress dip, which indicates a dynamic saturation of dislocations.

Effect of strain rate path on cavitation

The effect of a rapid pre-strain on the cavitation behaviour of commercially processed superplastic (SP) aluminium alloy 5083 sheet material deformed in uniaxial tension has been compared with that for deformation under constant strain rate conditions. It was observed for the two test conditions, th
