A verification and branding programme has been announced by X/Open, the consortium of international computer vendors specifying the Common Applications Environment (CAE). The programme provides computer and applications software vendors with a means of assuring users that products that claim X/Open compliance meet the specifications outlined in the X/ Open Portability Guide. Systems and software applications that are compliant and display X/Open brands require only basic recompilation of the applications to achieve portability.
