to the sulfonate group at the middle of the chain was compensated to some extent by the presence of the sulfate group towards other end of the molecule in SSRD though the value was still less than that of SRD, where there was no such hydrophilic group at the middle of the chain. The sulfonate group at the middle of the chain also decreased the foaming power and the foam stability to a considerable extent. Although the presence of sulfate group towards the other end of the molecule did not have much effect on the initial foam height, the foam stability decreased considerably. SSRD having three hydrophilic groups had very little foaming power and foam stability. Wettability was also much affected: the yarn did not sink in any one of the solutions within 180 seconds. The wettability of SRD was, however, comparatively better than that of the others, and SSRD solution had almost no wetting power. The solubility increased with increase of hydrophilic groups, only when both ends of the surfactant molecule were occupied by hydrophilic groups, Thus Krafft point of SRD was 19.5O C, and SSRD solution remained clear at 1-2O C. The sulfonate group at the middle of the chain decreased the solubility. The critical micelle concentrations of SRD (0.0625 g/l) was less than that of SOD (0.2500 g/l), and it could not be determined in the case of SSRD solution upto the concentration studied.

V i e r t e 1) An stark denaturierten blut-und eigelbhaltigen Geweben wurde bei Langzeiteinwirkung erkannt, daD durch enzymfreie Waschmittel EiweiD nicht, durch enzymhaltige Waschmittelansatze jedoch vorteilhaft entfernt wird. Perborat wirkte sich auf den EiweiDabbau nachteilig aus. Bei leicht denaturierten EiweiDanfledcungen und Temperatureinwirkungen von 30°, 45O und 60oC hat sich der Perboratanteil auf die EiweiBentfernung bei 450 und 60° C recht ungiinstig, bei 3O0 C nicht nachteilig ausgewirkt. Wahrend maschineller Wascheinfliisse wurden die Flecksubstanzen durch die Waschmitteleinwirkung und verstarkte Mechanik bevorzugt entfernt, so daD die mogliche Enzymwirkung nicht markant in Erscheinung treten konnte.
