Abstract
Agglomeration processes and costs. After an introduction to the various means of agglomeration, the function of agglomerating equipment and processes is explained with the aid of diagrams. Focal points are pelleting by drum and pan and compaction with pelleting and roll presses. The capacity and agglomerate properties obtained, e. g. size, porosity, and strength, are discussed.
The costs of agglomeration are considered in the light of examples taken from the available literature. It was thus found that pan granulation is cheaper than drum granulation. Up to certain moisture contents, wet granulation can compete with dry compacting.
