## Abstract Vena cava filters were developed as a method of preventing pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) at risk for bleeding from therapeutic anticoagulation. However, the long‐term complications of filter placement, such as caval thrombosis, have mitigated some
