Development of the Lane-Keeping System

We have been developing collision avoidance systems which are designed to prevent traffic accidents stemming from human errors by generating alarms and/or automatically controlling vehicles. In this paper, we introduce "Lane-keeping" system that hinders human drivers from swerving out of his lane without his intention. This system comprises three elements, lane-marker recognition, excursion-prediction logic and automatic-steering actuator. The system is evaluated through "Real-time simulator" for vehicle control study. "Driving simulator" for human interface study, and field tests.
