✦ Synopsis

The results of current research in the development of a Cray algorithm for time-dependent Monte Carlo photon radiation transport is presented. The method that has been developed is a fully vectorized particle-vector scheme. This technique tracks groups of particles simultaneously using a vector-stack formalism based upon particle events. Timing comparisons between this algorithm and the traditional single-particle approach are presented.

We study methods for accelerating Monte Carlo simulations that retain most of the accuracy of conventional Monte Carlo algorithms. These methods - called Condensed History (CH) methods - have been very successfully used to model the transport of ionizing radiation in turbid systems. Our primary obje

MC4 is a detector simulation program combining a vectorized ray-tracing algorithm with a vectorized version of the electromagnetic interaction routines from GEANT3. The implementation of ray tracing is able to represent moderately complex geometries such as single calorimeter modules or test-beam si
