โฆ Synopsis
The first measurement of the ฯ 0 -vector meson elliptic flow v 2 at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) in 40 -80 % centrality in Au + Au collisions at โ s NN = 200 GeV from the STAR experiment at RHIC is presented. The study is through the ฯ + ฯ -hadronic decay channel of ฯ 0 which has a branching ratio of โผ 100 %. The analysis is being carried out in two different methods. The v 2 results obtained in these methods are consistent. Number of Constituent Quark (NCQ) scaling of v 2 of ฯ 0 meson with respect to other hadrons at intermediate p T is observed. The ฯ 0 v 2 favors NCQ = 2 scaling, supporting the coalescence being the dominant mechanism of hadronization in the intermediate p T region at RHIC.

Collective, explosive flow in central heavy ion collisions manifests itself in the mass dependence of pT distributions and femtoscopic length scales, measured in the soft sector (pT 1 GeV/c). Measured p T distributions from proton-proton collisions differ significantly from those from heavy ion coll
