The velocity of sound in seven vegetable oils has been measured to an accuracy o f f 0.3 ms-'. The different values of the velocities are correlated on the basis of composition. Improved Bd[ortax.-Sawdust is better than hair in protectiug rough cast from peeling and scaling under .the influence of frost and weather.
The sawdust should be first dried and then thoroughly .sifted, in order to remove the coarser particles.
A mixture is then made of t'wo parts sawdust, five parts sharp sand and one part cement, which should be thoroughly stirred together and then incorporated with two parts of lime.-Der I'echniker. C.
