β¦ Synopsis
The transient thermal response of a non-Newtonian, laminar boundary layer flow over a wedge is analyzed by means of the semidirect variational method of Kantorovich. Consideration is given to the case of a step change in surface temperature. Details of the transient heat flux and the temperature field are obtained and by comparison with the exact solution it is observed that the results are good within an error margin of 5%. The range of Prandtl numbers investigated is from 5 to 1000, while the viscosity index is allowed to vary from 0.1 to 5.0.
