โฆ Synopsis
Diurnal and seasonal variations in experimental pro_le parameters B9 and B0 are examined\ at high solar activity\ for Ouagadougou\ Burkina Faso\ an equatorial station in Africa "latitude 01[3>N\ longitude 0[4>W\ dip 4[8>N#[ The diurnal variations for B9 indicate a solar zenith angle dependence that can be described as B9 A cos n "x# with n 9[39\ 9[40\ 9[35\ and 9[60 for Winter\ Spring\ Summer and Autumn\ respectively[ The seasonal e}ect is most pronounced from 09]99ร07]99 LT[ Within this period\ B9 is highest in Spring and lowest in Winter[ A comparison of experimental B9 with the IRI B9 shows that the greatest discrepancy occur from about 00]99 to about 07]99 LT[ Both are closer during most of the night time hours and in the early hours of the daytime[ There is no obvious solar zenith angle dependence in B0[ The range of variation for all seasons\ during the day time "09]99ร07]99 LT# is 9[7[ For the remaining part of the 13 h period\ the range is about 0[7[ Generally\ there is an overestimation of B0 by the IRI model[ ร 0887 Elsevier Science Ltd[ All rights reserved[
