Varian Introduces New VXR Series of NMR Spectrometers Varian Associates announce the introduction of their new VXR Series in NMR Spectroscopy. This new series of superconducting Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers at 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500MHZ will offer scientists flexibility in research applications from biotechnology to synthetic materials.
Varian consider that in terms of flexibility and ease of upgradability, the VXR represents the research instrument of the future. All critical spectrometer functions are under computer control and with a flexible software system, the VXR is a powerful, easy-to-use tool for the research scientist. Components are assembled in an efficient, modular arrangement designed for high reliability, ease of maintenance, and for upgrading as the needs of the laboratory change or as NMR technology evolves.
The VXR Series uses Varian's fieldproven NMR software with a number of major new enhancements, designed to totally automate the NMR experiment. Features such as Autoshim, Autospin, Autolock, Autogain, and computercontrolled decoupling replace manual operations and produce more reliable results. The ASM-100, the Automatic Sample Manager, is available for use with the VXR Series. A number of optional software packages are also available, such as MAGICAL, a high-level, macro-based NMR language.
The VXR Series of spectrometers consists of three major modules: the magnet and probes; the RF acquisition module; and the VXR 4000 data station. Probes and magnets are available for systems from 200-500MHz, in liquid and solid state NMR configurations, supporting a variety of applications including basic chemicals, biomedical, biotechnology , health and personal @ 1986 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
