The a.c. susceptibility of bulk Cro3TI1Ba2Ca2CusOx at 8 A m -1 and 111 Hz has been measured as a function of temperature and d.c. bias field ranging from 0 to 795 000 A m-1. As the d.c. magnetic field is increased a decrease in the critical temperature as well as in the temperature at which the imag

✦ Synopsis
An insert for a.c. susceptibility measurements on high Tc superconductors was constructed which, in the temperature interval 80-115K allows one to set sample temperature by combining rapid response (>1 Kmin -1) with high stability (within __.0.01 K). The copper coil involved, immersed in liquid nitrogen and fed by a 20W power amplifier, can generate a.c. fields with an amplitude of 1 mT at 100kHz or 100mT at 100 Hz. The simple construction and low costs are further advantages of the model.
