In this paper, Hamilton's principle and "nite element method are employed to formulate the new dynamic equation of a tall building subjected to earthquake excitations. A tuned-mass-damper (TMD) system is installed at the top to absorb the earthquakeinduced vibrations. First, the non-linear governing
