✦ Synopsis

A wavelet ®lter was employed for removing the strong annual wave in the Atuel river runo data to analyze for other wavelength phenomena of interest and to examine the in¯uence of the ENSO events. After this removal, the in¯uence of ENSO signal in dierent frequency bands and indications of climatic changes in bands larger than 10 years could be observed. Other signi®cant phenomena were also observed. As the Andean Argentinean rivers in the Cuyo region have signi®cant similarities, the conclusions about the Atuel river could be extended to other rivers in this region.

## Abstract The temporal variability of streamflow in the Mississippi river basin, including its major tributaries (Missouri, Upper Mississippi, Ohio and Arkansas rivers), was analysed using continuous wavelet methods in order to detect possible changes over the past 60 years. Long‐ to short‐term f
