An improved gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method has been applied to the quantitation of both in vitro and in vivo products of lipid peroxidation in rat liver stimulated with carbon tetrachloride. The method avoids problems of autoxidation of unsaturated fatty acids during sample preparation,
