✦ Synopsis
The generation and stabilisation of a vacuum will also after the age of Ferdinand Brauns CRT play an important role. Furthermore, the modern flat panel display technologies cannot be produced without coatings based on vacuum technology as evaporation, sputtering, plasma CVD. Thus, the control and economic of these vacuum technologies are prerequisites for mass production of flat panel displays.
Nobody can reliable predict the end of Brauns CRT. However, the new flat displays still have to improve their performance in respect to picture quality and price compared the ªgood oldª CRT technology.
