✦ Synopsis

An evaluation of the response of urinary tract symptoms to vaginal estrogen cream in the postmenopausal women was carried out in a retrospective manner. There were 43 patients who had genuine stress incontinence. Improvement in stress incontinence was noted in 9 patients (20.9%), and total remission was noted in 30 patients (69.8%) after 1-3 months of vaginal estrogen treatment. There were 4 patients (9.3%) who did not show improvement with vaginal estrogen therapy. The presence or absence of urethral detachment influenced the response rate.
