✦ Synopsis

UV shadowing has the potential of being a convenient and sensitive method for the location and isolation of individual bands of uv-absorbing material from polyacrylamide gels. The technique's simplicity and its ability to examine many gels simulbaneously should prove to be quite valuable. Photography of t,he shadows produced is possible using ultraviolet radiation from a single, small source in a completely darkened room, and from a position as near to the vertical camera lens as is possible.
