✦ Synopsis

The Cantor distribution of dielectric layers has recently found application in the design of guided-wa¨e optical or microwa¨e filters. In addition to the con¨entional fractal descriptors, we use the lacunarity of fractal filters as a new design parameter. Varying the lacunarity allows one to minimize the passband insertion loss of Cantor filters.
