✦ Synopsis

The path-independent integral A is extended to account for mixed-mode loading and thermal stresses in dynamic fracture analysis. A new path-independent integral, k, related to the variation of the stress intensity factor is presented for solving the "prediction" problem in finite bodies subjected to thermomechanical loads. Numerical examples using the nodal release technique are given to show the practical utility of these techniques.
