β¦ Synopsis
This patent uses torque transfer pins that are manufactured from memory metal. The purpose of this is to reduce wear and breakage of the torque transfer mechanism in the seal. In the event of excessive torque, such as during startup, the memory metal can withstand the additional superelastic strain, from which it will subsequently recover. Wear or breakage of the drive pins is therefore reduced compared to a seal with conventional pins.
