✦ Synopsis

A literature review has been carried out on high intensity gas liquid mixers with regard to their mass transfer peIfOrmalXX5. The significance of using these mixing devices as reactors is described.

The mass transfer coeffiiient in this type of mixers can be two orders of magnitude higher than that in conventional stirred tanks. The review shows considerable discrepancies between correlations of different authors, which implies the need for further studies to achieve deeper understanding in this field.

An automotive diesel fuel was subjected to irradiation with high-intensity ultrasound. In addition to the cracking of saturated alkane components of the fuel, sonication promoted polymerization reactions which concentrated aromatic and nitrogen-containing compounds into insoluble sediments having pr
