In order to investigate the production of auxotrophs of slow growing mycobacterial pathogens, an evaluation of defined liquid and solid media suitable for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium paratuberculosis was undertaken. Five defined liquid media were evaluated. A nu
