โฆ Synopsis
ealth care funding has evolved into a substantial segment of the U.S. economy. Increased medical technology and H patient demand have helped to fuel this big business to a staggering trillion-dollar level. Over the past several years, U.S. employers achieved significant progress toward controlling the health care expenses embodied in their employee benefit plans. This success can be largely attributed to the evolution of managed care. To understand managed care, the following things are examined: who is covered in managed care, the types and traits of managed care organizations (MCOs), and the techniques these managed care organizations employ. Additionally, current issues and trends in managed care including legislation, employer health care costs, Medicare contracting, the consolidation of MCOs, and formularies are presented.
