We used this list of sentences and adapted it where necessary to the cultural context of our target language Urum. The 803 sentences were translated in the contact language Russian. Four native speakers were instructed to translate the Russian sentences into Urum, which resulted in a dataset of 803 × 4=3212 sentences. The translations were recorded and archived in the database by Violeta Moisidi, who transcribed the data according to the conventions of the project and provided a word-by-word translation of the elicited data in English. The word translations do not follow a linguistic norm but represent the native speaker's intuition about the contribution of each word to the sentential meaning. Hence, our dataset contains the target sentence in English, the translation in Russian, the elicited sentences in Urum, and their word-by-word translations in English.
