β¦ Synopsis
Urodynamics were investigated in 15 patients in coma due to brain lesion. ln 5 acute patients who had spontaneous micturition, cystometry showed bladder overactivity. A low-compliance bladder with a large capacity and noncontractile detrusor was found in 5 acute patients with temporary urinary retention. In 5 patients with prolonged coma, complete bladder emptying and detrusor-sphincter synergia was found. These findings are correlated with modern concepts of lower urinary tract neurophysiology .
