โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Evidence is presented that previously reported values for urinary IgE were overestimations. This probably arose from nonspecific inhibition in the radioimmunoassay procedure. Gel filtration chromatography suggests that IgE occurs in normal urine as an intact molecule, but at a considerably lower concentration than previously thought.

Work with laboratory animals involves the increased risk of developing an allergy. Certain proteins in male rat urine have been shown to be major allergens, i.e., Rat n 1.01 and Rat n 1.02. Rat urinary proteins separated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) were el

The concept and role of endomitosis is reevaluated in the light of observations on three organisms.
