M any company owners in the UK seals and gaskets industry are complaining about the scarcity of bank lending to businesses, but market analyst Plimsoll Publishing Ltd argues that the banks are right -many companies in the market are just not worth the risk.
The latest 'Plimsoll Industry Analysis -Seals & Gaskets' highlights which companies are prospering in the post-recession market place, those set to be bought out and those heading for trouble -across the whole of the market and in the individual regions.
It gives an instant performance rating on 230 companies and highlights those ripe for acquisition.
Recent high profile failures in other sectors (namely the travel and construction sectors) show the danger of operating on micro-profit margins, and the same thing could be heading to the seals and gaskets industry in 2011, says Plimsoll. According to the firm, 114 companies in the market exist on low profit margins of less than 1.5%, with 71 of these making a loss.
