This l a s t is able t o catalyze the synthesis of dihydroxy-THF, but only in the presence of a hydroperoxide. Which is t h e s t r u c t u r e of the c a t a l y t i c species? Which are the intermediates? Nevertheless a positive p o i n t is the synthesis of new f a t t y acids comprising of an oxygen heterocyclic and two hydroxyl groups, which confer some polarity to these fatty acids.
