Abstract

It is shown that the experimentally determined pK‐values and the position of the long wave absorption bands of the tropylium cation and some of its benzologues correlate closely with the theoretical predictions drawn from simple LCAO MO models for these compounds. The observed correlation may be used for predictions concerning still missing members of the series.
