Investigations on a Cycloheptatriene‐Norcaradiene Equilibrium Observable at Room Temperature
Analytical data of the bridged quinone hydrazones 7a, 8a, 7b, 8b, 7c, 8c are discussed. These products exist as tautomeric mixtures of their norcaradiene‐ and cycloheptatriene forms. The rate constants of these isomerizations are so small that the ^1^H‐and ^13^C‐NMR signals of the tautomers are well‐resolved. Kinetic and thermodynamic variables were determined by temperature‐dependent ^1^H‐NMR, measurements.
