✦ Synopsis

A scries of d , 1and meso-l,3-diaryl-4,5-diphenylimidazolidines (11) has been prcpared by condensation of formaldehyde with the corresponding d , Ior meso-1,2tliarylamino-l,2-diplicnylcthanes (I). Similarly, several d, Z-1,3-diaryl-4,5-diphenyl-2-methylimidazolidines (111) have been synthesized from acetaldehyde and diamines d , 1-1.

Significant differences in melting points and UV. spcctra have been found to exist between the d,l and weso forms of the imidazolidines 11.
