โœฆ Synopsis

patching 10 When I was growing up, a million dollars was a lot of money. Actually, it was more than that, it was the ultimate amount of money. If you had a million dollars, that made you a millionaire, and you were set for life. Oh, sure, we knew there were things like billions of dollars, but monies of that order of magnitude were for the likes of governments, not flesh and blood people like us. We "real" people never thought in billions of dollars. There were no things in our everyday lives we could see, and with which we could associate such enormous sums. Today there are lots of things we regularly see with price tags in the billions of dollars. Unfortunately, many of them are associated with damages to computer systems and networks. The heaviest hitters have typically been successful by exploiting known yet untreated vulnerabilities to these systems and networks, where proven fixes and patches were publicized and freely available.
