โฆ Synopsis
s eighth annual weather photography competition took place in the autumn term 2009. The competition was open to all members of the university, and over 80 entries were received. The entries were divided into two categories: Weather and optical phenomena and Sunsets and dawns, and consisted of photos taken both in the UK and in various different locations around the world. The winning photos were voted for by members of the Meteorology Department.
The winner of the Weather and optical phenomena category was Samantha Palin, an MSc student in Food Technology, with her atmospheric photo of storm clouds at sunset, taken in Omaha, Nebraska. The winner of the Sunsets and dawns category was Alex Whittingham, an MSc student in the Soil Science Department, with his spectacular sunset photo taken at Vitu Levu in Fiji.
