## Abstract We match the Hagedorn/deconfinement temperature of planar π© = 4 super YangβMills (SYM) on β Γ __S__^3^ to the Hagedorn temperature of string theory on Ads^5^ Γ __S__^5^. The match is done in a nearβcritical region where both gauge theory and string theory are weakly coupled. On the gaug
