โฆ Synopsis
Fig.2 Photograph of the new siphon system connected to an evaporation cryostat
nitrogen or helium gas flowed through the siphon. The temperatures were measured at the entrance and the exit of the siphon with calibrated NTC resistance thermometers (thermistors) during constant flow of gas. The heat input calculated from these measurements amounts to about 2 W at a gas mean temperature of 85 K as well as at 8 K. This value was confirmed by results of a control calculation.
Fig. 2 shows a photograph of the new siphon system. This siphon system connects at the same time two storage vessels for liquid helium with the cryostat of a low temperature apparatus in which new vapour pressure measurements for nitrogen and argon 20 have been performed.
