According to the analyst Oil World, world production of palm oil could reach 48.66 M tonnes in 2010-2011, a rise of 2.76 M tonnes on the previous season. The 2 leading producing nations Indonesia and Malaysia are expected to have outputs of 23.35 M tonnes (+2.05 M tonnes) and 18.11 M tonnes (+0.34 M tonnes) respectively. The import/ export balance is likely to be up from 36.6 M tonnes to 38.4 M tonnes. Indonesian exports should rise 1.03 M tonnes to 18 M tonnes. Malaysia is likely to export 16.90 M tonnes (+2.73 M tonnes) in 2010-2011. Consumption is predicted to be 48.64 M tonnes (+2.73 M tonnes).
