Abstract

The pyrazolyl‐substituted amidrazones 3 were found to undergo slow conversion into the 1,2,4‐triazolyl ketone hydrazones 8 when kept in ethanolic solution at 20°C. The crucial step in this transformation is apparently air oxidation of 3 to the intermediate 4, since employment of an additional oxidant greatly enhanced the rate.
