✦ Synopsis

Over the last five years significant progress has been made in understanding interactions in zeolite colloidal suspensions by elucidating the molecular interactions between zeolite crystal surface and species such as water, cations, and organic templates. This is the outcome of multidisciplinary work involving the generation of experimental data concerning the magnitude of ~-potential, the theoretical and experimental identification of the zeolite crystal surface structure, combined with theoretical models spanning different length scales.

The library presented here allows the efficient calculation of friction and mobility matrices that describe the hydrodynamic interactions between identical spherical particles suspended in a liquid, assuming stick boundary conditions on the particle surfaces. The relaxation of density fluctuations is characterized by the experimentally accessible dynamic structure factor S(k, t). Whereas the short-time behaviour of this quantity is well understood, its long-time characteristics are more difficult to determine since memory effects become important giving

A relation between the dynamic electrophoretic mobility of spherical colloidal particles in a concentrated suspension and the colloid vibration potential (CVP) generated in the suspension by a sound wave is obtained from the analogy with the corresponding Onsager relation between electrophoretic mob
