✦ Synopsis


Results of inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering experiments are interpreted in terms of jumps both in real and reciprocal spaces. However, the role of quantum-mechanical uncertainty in the determination of orientations has never been checked. The entropic uncertainty relations are used to estimate quantitatively the level of uncertainty in defining the position of protons (in general, a state of motion of the rotor) on a circle within the Mathieu equation theory.
