β¦ Synopsis
The existence of histone HI has been questioned in Trypanosomatids. We report here the presence of a histone HI in the chromatin of Trypanosoma cruzi. This protein was purified by narrow-bore reversed phase HPLC and its amino acid composition analyzed and compared with histones HI from other species. Furthermore, the purified chromosomal protein was digested with proteases and the amino acid sequences of the resulting peptides were analyzed by the automated Edman degradation. The sequences obtained were found to present a high degree of homology when compared to the carboxy terminal domain of other known histones HI.

The conjugation of ubiquitin to histones H2A and H2B has been established in higher eukaryotes and has been related to changes in chromatin organization. In Trypanosoma cruzi, no condensation of chromatin occurs during mitosis. In order to determine the presence of histone ubiquitination in T. cruzi
## Abstract Potassium channels (K^+^ channels) are members of one of the largest and most diverse families of membrane proteins, widely described from bacteria to humans. Their functions include voltageβmembrane potential maintenance, pH and cell volume regulation, excitability, organogenesis and c
