Under X-ray excitation, the compounds YNb04, LaNbO,, YTaO,, LuTaO, and CaWO, show a weak emission in the shortwavelength ultraviolet ( e 250 nm). This emission is ascribed to a transition from a higher excited state of the tetroxo complexes
