Correspondence
analysis of the pancreas demonstrated that fibrosis was present in seven cases (44 per cent).
Our results indicate that biochemical, ultrasound and histological pancreatic abnormalities can be detected from 29 to 56 per cent of the time in patients with ampullary carcinoma. These pancreatic signs can be observed without clinical and/or operative findings consistent with a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
