✦ Synopsis
We present a new percutaneous ultrasound-guided galactography technique that may be used in patients in whom the conventional technique fails and breast ultrasonography shows dilated ducts. 0 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Galactography is a significant procedure for evaluating women with a nonlactational nipple discharge. The symptom is usually due to a benign disease, either a single intraductal papilloma, fibrocystic disease, ductectasia, or papillomatosis. Malignant intraductal lesions account for about 10% of all patients with bloody or serous secretion from one duct.' It is sometimes difficult to insert a needle or catheter into the secreting duct; the less the discharge, the more difficult the cannulation. We present a new technique in which contrast was injected percutaneously under ultrasound guidance. This alternative technique can be more helpful than the conventional method in selected patients.
Methods
The mammograms were taken with Alpha I11 equipment (Instrumentarium Corp., Finland) or Mamex DC Mag equipment (Soredex, Orion Corp. Ltd., Finland). The conventional galactographies were performed with water-soluble, ionic, or nonionic contrast medium after cleaning the breast with A12t 80% or Klorhexol 5 mg/mL solution, and cannulating the secreting duct with a thin, blunt-ended needle.

## Abstract A retrospective review of 200 patients with intra-abdominal abscesses treated by percutaneous ultrasound-guided drainage is reported. Abscesses were simple in 151 patients (75.5 per cent) and complex in 49 (24.5 per cent). In 12 patients the abscess communicated with the gastrointestina
