## Abstract Thyroid function and ultrasonographically determined thyroid volume were studied in nine pregnant women with diagnosed autoimmune thyroid disease at regular intervals during pregnancy and two months after delivery. The results were compared to the findings in ten healthy pregnant women.

β¦ Synopsis
To discover whether pregnancy causes ultrasonically detectable changes in the thyroid, an ultrasound examination of the thyroid was performed repeatedly in 21 pregnant women with no history of thyroid disease.
Seven patients were examined three times and 14 twice during the course of pregnancy. The size of the thyroid was estimated and the echogenicity assessed with respect to homogenicity and degree by comparison with the echogenicity of adjacent muscles. The results were compared with the results of a control group of healthy female volunteers. The mean volume of the thyroid increased slightly during the course of pregnancy. No changes in the echogenicity or echostructure were noted. Indexing Words Thyroid Pregnancy Parathyroid * Ultrasound

An abnormal thyroid echographic pattern, characterized by a diffuse low thyroid echogenicity associated with a reduced thyroid volume, was found in 53 of 55 (96%) patients with atrophic thyroiditis. In 10 of these patients, the ultrasound examination was diagnostic for thyroid atrophy, whereas the s
## Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the development of fetal lung function during normal pregnancy by analysis of breathing movement-related fetal nasal fluid flow waveforms including its regularity and inspiratory peak velocity using two-dimensional color Doppler and pulse Dop
Background: To determine the optimal timing at which to perform surgery for welldifferentiated thyroid carcinoma detected during pregnancy. Objectives: We retrospectively analyzed 20 cases of women diagnosed during pregnancy with well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma between July 1991 and June 2004,
This series retrospectively reviewed 3657 patients who received thyroid ultrasonography with fine-needle aspiration cytological (FNAC) examinations at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital during the period from January 1, 1993 to December 31, 1993. Thyroid ultrasonography studies were performed using a real
