✦ Synopsis

Two relaxation processes have been observed in aqueous solution of antihistamines containing the maleate counterion.

The slower relaxation is associated with proton transfer between the maleate counterion and the antihistamine base and rate constants for this process have been estimated. The faster of the two processes is associated with the aggregation of the antihistamine bases and is non-micellar.
