✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A fluid‐filled duodenum in ultrasonic studies of the epigastrium, which is manifest when the pancreas is scanned using the liquid‐filled stomach technique, can give rise to images that can cause confusion. We describe the ultrasonic appearances of different parts of the duodenum after ingestion of fluid in 12 healthy persons, pointing out criteria that can be useful for correct identification of this organ.
