## Abstract A design methodology is presented for utilizing electromagnetic bandgap metamaterials, also known as artificial magnetic conductors, to realize ultra‐thin absorbers. One approach that has recently been proposed is to place a resistive sheet in close proximity to a frequency‐selective su
